Chiefs star WR Hill avoids suspension

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Tyreek Hill has been cleared to report to Chiefs training camp next week after the NFL said Friday it would not suspend the star wide receiver under its personal conduct policy after a domestic violence case involving his 3-year-old son.

The league spent eight hours interviewing Hill late last month about the case, which came to light after a recording of Hill and his fiance, Crystal Espinal, aired on television station KCTV5.

During the conversation, Espinal accused Hill of hurting their son. Police launched an investigation into potential child abuse, but the Johnson County, Kansas, district attorney announced he could not charge Hill because it was not clear how the boy had sustained his injuries.

Broncos lack experience behind QB Flacco

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) If Joe Flacco stays healthy, it won't matter that rookie quarterbacks Drew Lock and Brett Rypien are greenhorns and incumbent backup Kevin Hogan has gotten off to a rocky start in Denver this summer.

Hogan, who has started just one game in the NFL, back in 2017 for the Cleveland Browns, threaded an 11-yard TD pass to Noah Fant past two defenders Sunday that was easily his best throw of training camp.

Buccaneers sign 5th overall pick White

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed first-round pick Devin White, the fifth overall selection out of LSU.

White was the 2018 Butkus Award winner as the nation's top college linebacker and was a first-team All-American. He is expected to be an immediate starter at inside linebacker.

Cardinals place 6 on pre-camp PUP list

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Cardinals have placed six players on the Physically Unable to Perform list before the start of training camp next week.

The Cardinals announced Saturday linebackers Dante Booker (back) and Brooks Reed (hip), tight end Charles Clay (knee), offensive lineman Max Garcia (knee), defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche (knee) and cornerback Brandon Williams (back) will start training camp inactive.

Bills sign S Coleman after Bush retires

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) The Buffalo Bills have signed safety Kurt Coleman to replace Rafael Bush after Bush unexpectedly announced his retirement less than a week before the start of training camp.

The Bills announced the moves Friday in placing Bush on the reserve/retired list. Bush had seven starts in 15 games during his one and only season with Buffalo last year. He had one year left on the two-year contract he signed with Buffalo in March 2018. The 32-year-old Bush spent five seasons in New Orleans and had 25 starts in 91 career games.

Ex-Giants OL Petrus dies of heat stroke

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) Offensive lineman Mitch Petrus, a walk-on at Arkansas who went on to a three-year NFL career that included a Super Bowl win with the New York Giants, has died. He was 32.

Pulaski County Coroner Gerone Hobbs said Petrus died of heat stroke Thursday night at a North Little Rock hospital after working outside that day at his family's shop near his hometown of Carlisle, which is about 35 miles (55 kilometers) east of Little Rock.

Ex-Denver coach Shanahan visits practice

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) Mike Shanahan attended a Denver Broncos practice for the first time since he was fired as coach on New Year's Eve 2008.

"I was glad he was here," new head coach Vic Fangio said after practice Saturday. "I think it's good he's here. Mike's got a big part in the rich history of this franchise and he's welcome to come here anytime he wants."

Ex-Cardinals OT surrenders to police

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) An offensive tackle for the Arizona Cardinals who was released this week has surrendered to police in North Carolina after a warrant was issued for his arrest on an assault charge.

A news release from the Greensboro Police Department says Desmond Harrison turned himself in to authorities Friday. Police say the alleged assault was reported on Tuesday, but provided no additional details of the incident. It's not known if he has an attorney.

Families at forefront for HOF inductions

CANTON, Ohio (AP) Families will be at the forefront for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's induction ceremonies next month.

Four of the eight members of the class of 2019 will have relatives present them for induction on Aug. 3: Kevin Mawae, Johnny Robinson, Ed Reed and Tony Gonzalez.
